I wanted to share a new stock library that I'm building up.
The cannabis and medical marijuana industry is ready to take off with Washington and Colorado passing laws that make recreational and medical cannabis use legal. 20 other states like California and New Jersey already have medical marijuana laws in place.
Reportage of this industry has been difficult for obvious legal reasons, and currently most of the imagery in the marketplace lacks energy or emotion. I set out to create images of this new industry that were beautiful, sophisticated and presented the new entrepreneurs in a pioneering class of their own. Erasing the stoner stigmas of the Cheech and Chong days and welcoming this progressive new industry in 2014. The new school of cannabis consumers are health conscious, technology ready and educated, opting for the complex flavors brought on by vaporizers that don't burn and which can be discreet.
It's a new road being paved where the average worker or white collar urban professional can savor the positive results of cannabis. Much like the vintage of expensive wine, there are also many strains and flavors of cannabis, each with their own qualities from creative to relaxing to no effects at all.
My goal is to create a comprehensive library of artistic photographic images from every aspect of this industry. I think I have a good start. So, if you are in need of 'design aware' images from this industry in your magazine or newspaper, give my library a look.
